I will gladly test any driver you come up with/ future release of macam and reply with details as per its functionality. There is of course an official windows XP driver as well readily downloadable on the net. I can't say if that is true, but perhaps a simple solution to this would be to port it from this driver. I also read elsewhere on the web that linux drivers can be ported easily to mac os x because of the shared *nix code. There is a linux driver that says it supports this model, it is called "spca5xx/LE" and can be download at many websites if you google it. I have done some research on this and have seen that other mac users have tried using this camera without success because of the company not supporting macs. I have checked your faqs and this model is not listed as supported or even mentioned. The snapshots/videos are just black screen. The problem is that it captures absolutely no video. All of the functions of the application appear to work with the camera. Product ID: 0x305b Vendor ID: 0x0ac8 I am using the lastest release of macam (0.8.7) and the latest of mac os x: os x.4.7 Macam knows the name of the camera and thinks it is working with the camera. The camera, according to the system profiler, is this: PC Camera: Version: 1.00 Bus Power (mA): 500 Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec Manufacturer: Vimicro Corp. Hello, I am currently studying in China and want to be in touch with friends and family over the webcam that I bought here, but alas it is unsupported by your program. Has anyone with a camera based on the same controller (PAC207) ever experienced something like this? Thank you very much - Daniele Nicolucci (Jollino) Photo portfolio: Photolog: Blog: I also tried deleting the component and the plist files and rebooting (to make sure nothing was left in RAM), but this instability is still there. The messed up part is always below my chin (I have no idea why this happens, but it sure sounds weird). In this case, for some reason, the image was very dark. Here is a sample of it, taken as it happened on Yahoo Messenger 3.0 beta 1. This happens even in the macam stand-alone viewer. However, I have noticed something weird: sometimes (I haven't been able to reproduce this consistently), the bottom of the image looks weird, like a corrupted jpeg image. I've also tried playing with the auto gain checkbox, but I would say it doesn't change anything. Indeed, ~/Library/Preferences/ does reflect the values I have saved from the main app. Is this possible at all? I don't know how QuickTime components work. it seems as if it either doesn't read the values set in the stand-alone app, or it reads them but misinterprets them. I suppose this is a bug with Yahoo correct me if I'm wrong. > I tried it, but Yahoo Messenger seems to reset them at its own leisure. > Now when you start another application that uses the macam > component, those settings will be used. > The choose the menu item "Save Settings" and quit.
